Which standards help more in the production of safe machinery, incomplete machines and plants?<\/span><\/p>\n

What, actually, is a Standard?<\/span><\/p>\n

Harmonised standards are non-binding technical specifications, which have been adopted by one of the European standards organisations. <\/span><\/p>\n

CEN<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u2013 European Standards Committee<\/span><\/p>\n

CENELEC<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u2013 European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation<\/span><\/p>\n

ETSI<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u2013 European Institute for Telecommunication Standardisation <\/span><\/p>\n

If the manufacturer fulfils the harmonised standards for the product, the conformity is presumed. That means that one can assume, that the product fulfils these requirements. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, there are not harmonised standards for all products. <\/span><\/p>\n

We distinguish between A, B and C standards, which are each to be applied in principal individually. <\/span><\/p>\n

A-standards<\/strong> are safety base standards, which can be applied to machines. These define basic terminology, design principles and general aspects. <\/span><\/p>\n

B-standards<\/strong> are generic safety standards, which deal with safety aspects or safeguards.<\/span><\/p>\n

C-standards<\/strong> reflect the detailed safety requirements for specific machines or group of machines. <\/span><\/p>\n
